Sr. DevOps/Tools Engineer

Location: Marina del Rey, CA

Department: Engineering

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Mid Level

Twenty20 is bringing stock photography into the modern, mobile age. Our global community of over 250,000 creative mobile photographers have contributed over 40 Million photos for sale, making us the largest crowdsourced commercial image catalog in the world. We sell those images to digital creators, brands, and ad agencies who are looking for a more authentic alternative to traditional stock imagery. We are a 25 person team, have raised funds from some of the best in the business, and are based in Los Angeles (near Venice).

Startups always have big challenges to look forward to, and we're looking for a high-caliber engineer to join our team. Come join us and help change the world of photography!

We're looking for an experienced DevOps (or operations, or insfrastructure, or systems - we don't care what you call yourself) engineer to join our growing team of engineers at our office in sunny Santa Monica. The right candidate will be an operations expert, excited about helping our team deploy the awesome stuff they build in the fastest, most efficient, and most cost-effective ways. We use continuous integration and continuous deployment, so we're well on the way, but you'll help us do it better :)

About You:

  • You're a smart and driven engineer with social skills and at least two years of technical operations experience, probably something with the term "DevOps."
  • You've built websites and applications that scale to millions of users across multiple platforms, including web and mobile - you've got a deep understanding of the full web stack.
  • You have experience with Ruby, Python, or some other modern language - we're really hunting someone who knows the guts of Puppet and Chef, along with whatever other tools you want to use - in order to mesh with our existing infrastructure.
  • You have experience with most (or all) of the following: Sidekiq, MongoDB, Heroku, Amazon AWS (EC2 specifically), Solr, and Capistrano.
  • You're a data-wrangling tools engineer who can help us go faster.
  • You're a product-minded engineer who can see the big picture but also gets excited about the details.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing and building infrastructure to help Twenty20 scale to millons of users
  • Writing scripts to automate operations, server management, and scaling.
  • Working with new web technology and solving tough problems with a team of really smart folks
  • Learning new technology (unless you already know it all) and teaching us some of your own tricks, too (because we certainly don't know it all - just a lot)
  • Watching your code get used by millions of people the day you build it

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • Stock options!
  • Free lunches, free beers, free t-shirts, and company retreats
  • Attacking a super-fun market alongside an incredible team
